The Journey to MARK III

2004

Foundation

Defence-focused beginnings

A group of industry pioneers came together to strengthen sovereign capability and support Australian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), laying the foundations for what would become a nationally recognised access model.

2013

Growth

Delivering impact for SMEs

Within less than a decade, their collaborative approach had channelled more than $130M in contracts to Australian SMEs and industry, proving the model’s value.

2015

Renewal

Recognition of a new way

The team’s work was formally recognised as a not-for-profit initiative, embedding lessons learned and reinforcing the importance of SME access in Defence and government supply chains.

2022

Expansion

National acceptance

The SME access model gained consistent traction with government and industry, scaling nationally and becoming a trusted pathway for connecting Defence with capable Australian enterprises.

2025

Impact

Delivering over $290M in contracts

By 2025, the model had delivered more than $290M in contracts, with 92% of revenue directly benefiting Australian SMEs, a clear demonstration of its effectiveness and integrity.
